Producer - Lauren Parker
Kato Pictures is a Nottingham based production company specialising in short films, music videos and commercials with a slate of shorts and features currently in development.
Kato Pictures is led by producer Lauren Parker who has produced a series of well received shorts including the Creative England and BFI NETWORK funded Wash Club (starring Tom Blyth). Wash Club received an online premiere with Short of the Week and a Vimeo Staff Pick. Lauren’s recent short Majority was funded by the BFI NETWORK and screened at Krakow Film Festival, Palm Springs Shortfest and BFI London Film Festival as well as screening on BBC 2. Her latest short Lord of the Free Range was also supported by BFI NETWORK and was nominated for the Méliés d’or for Best European Fantastic Film.
Lauren has produced countless commercial and corporate videos with clients including Porsche, Boots, Nottingham City Council and NY record label Bear and Owl.
She started her career in television starting as a production assistant with Endemol. Lauren has since worked in TV production with the CBBC, BSLBT, Netflix, Element Pictures, BBC and Channel 4 and recently worked as line producer with Wellington Films on the interactive project As Dead As It Gets.
Lauren has also worked on a range of feature films, from low budget horror films and UK units of international shoots to the BFI funded The Devil Outside. She has even worked in production on high profile events such as Sheffield Doc/Fest.
Her films have played at festivals around the world including Frightfest, Stiges, Aesthetica, London Short Film Festival, Krakow Film Festival, This is England, Galway Film Fleadh, Palm Springs Shortfest and many more. Her music videos have been screened on Vevo and MTV as well as being nominated for Best Radar Commission at the Radar Music Video awards.
Recently, Lauren has been working as a BFI NETWORK Talent Executive for Film Hub MIdlands exec producing a slate of shorts and supporting filmmakers by delivering a programme of training and networking opportunites. She also supports filmmakers through the Early Development Fund taking writers to treatment and first draft on debut features.
And yes we are named after a cat, and yes that is him starring in our logo.
